CHRISTmas!
I have to admit that beginning with Thanksgiving through CHRISTmas this is my favorite time of the year. I feel something in the air during these days. A peace. People are more relaxed and smiling. There is a calmness in the air that I do not feel throughout the year, but during this time. I love to see CHRISTmas come, and I hate to see it go. It has nothing to do with gifts under a tree. I remember one of my most memorable and happiest CHRISTmas was spent in church praising and worshipping THE GOOD LORD. For CHRISTians is this not what CHRISTmas is all about, the birth of our MESSIAH?
Yes, most of us have trees up in our homes with all the festive decorations, but there is something to be said about the atmosphere. There is something in the atmosphere that cannot be explained outside of saying it is a supernatural GOD-enhanced sense. No, CHRISTmas is not just another day. It is a special day. The day our SAVIOR was born into a dark and doomed world. JESUS was THE LIGHT that shut out the darkness in the world. A darkness that could not extinguish THE LIGHT. A LIGHT that was so bright, so full of love for all mankind to see. For at that moment, we saw the TRUE LOVE of GOD and HIS SON. “For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON that whosoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). This life born into the world gave life and not just life but abundant life – eternal life. On that blessed day (CHRISTmas) was born a way to break every chain of slavery to sin, a way out for a weary soul, a way of escape, forgiveness, power, healing, hope, peace, and a love beyond all understanding.
On that day, THE GREATEST NAME we know was born, the child JESUS CHRIST – EMMANUEL. This is what CHRISTmas is truly about. Let us bow our knees and heads to worship our LORD JESUS. Let CHRISTmas ring in our hearts like the sun breaking into a new day. Let us taste and see that the LORD is good. Let us cry out HOSANNA, blessed is HE who comes in the NAME of the LORD!
Amen.
With love in CHRIST JESUS
