The Burning Bush!

And Moses said unto The LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since THOU has spoken unto THY servant: but I am slow of speech, slow of tongue (Exodus 4:10).

After forty years in the wilderness, we find Moses tending the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law.  The adopted son of Pharaoh, a prince of Egypt who fled because he murdered an Egyptian.  Raised in the finest schools, a confident young man, who saw the plight of his Hebrew brothers and deliberately slew a man.   Now we find this very same man – Moses – chosen by GOD to deliver the people of Israel.

“I am slow of speech, slow of tongue said Moses to the Lord.” (Exodus 4:10)

How does GOD choose a deliverer?   Paul said, with weakness, fear, and much trembling, I preached unto you the gospel (1 Corinthians 2:3-4).   After forty years Moses could no longer rely on his understanding, and his thoughts, he was afraid of himself.   This highly educated man, once confident, stood dumb before The LORD.  The LORD said to Moses, “Now therefore go, I will be thy mouth, I will teach you what to say (Exodus 4:12).

Now Moses was ready for the calling and now Moses was ready to serve HIS purpose according to The Will of GOD.

As you proceed in the CHRISTian life, you begin to find a lessening, a loss of faith in yourself, your thoughts, and your understanding come to nothing. Your overweening confidence is replaced with fear and weakness in yourself.  You begin to learn Not to trust the flesh and any of its resources. Eventually, you come to a place of no confidence in the flesh.  That is when GOD can use you.  HE can become your mouth and will teach you what to say.

Your will will become HIS Will.  In your weakness, will be HIS Strength.

I find, over the years, that GOD weakens us, but at the same time, HE replaces it with HIS strength, HIS Spirit, and HIS Way.  Ever weakening means more Spirit, more Power in The LORD.

Finally, I have no confidence in myself, but all my confidence is in The LORD, and in that confidence, I get to see demonstrations of the Power of GOD.  What a glorious day.

Amen!
